Meet the pegasus!

These new mythical creatures, or mythies as we like to call them, are believed to be a mix of a unicorn, a horse and a bird. We still have a lot to learn about these amazing winged creatures and hope that your kids will adopt them and help us find out more about them. Think your kids would like to adopt a pegasus? Visit Ivy the Fairy in the Enchanted Sanctuary to get started!

Like a dragon, a pegasus hatches from the egg. Here at JumpStart, the Eggulator can be used to keep the egg comfortable while it hatches. Once your child has collected an egg and set it up in the Eggulator, they’ll be able to choose a gender and paint the egg. Pay close attention to that paintbrush, though! We’ve found that pegasi, like dragons, often adopt the colors of their eggs!

Once the egg hatches, your kids will need to give their new friend lots of love, food and attention…

Be sure to play with the pegasus!

With enough love, a pegasus will soon be old enough to start training. Unlike a dragon, which can be taught to breathe fire, a pegasus can be taught to make icicles!

Eventually, a pegasus will grow big and strong enough to carry its Jumpee trainer through the sky!

As your kids get started raising these new mythies, we’d love to hear what they’ve learned about them. What makes a pegasus different from a dragon? Does their pegasus seem to prefer certain activities or foods? Comment here to tell us about your kids’ pegasi!

 The vast lands of the Enchanted Sanctuary have plenty of room for a new creature and the mythies are eager to open up their home to another friend. The only problem is that they don’t know where they’re going to find one! That’s where your kids come in. If your little ones know of a mythie who might be interested in moving in, have them send us a drawing along with this Entry Form.

The information must include a physical description of the mythie (e.g. fur, scales, any animal parts it’s comprised of), how it gets around (does it trot, fly, etc.?), and what kind of special power it possesses. We’ll let the current residents of the Enchanted Sanctuary choose who they would like as their new friend! The winner of the contest will see their creation transformed into JumpStart’s newest mythie! They’ll also be rewarded with 1000 JumpStart coins.

Make sure to include the email address that you use to log in to JumpStart.com so we can correctly credit the winning account. Also, please note that only parents can submit the entries and parent details will only be used to validate the winning entry. Including your child’s age is optional and strictly to show off what your __ year old is capable of!

Can you solve the clues and assemble the map?

For those of you who haven’t found the 6th, 7th and 8th pieces yet, S.P.L.A.T. has recently received the following intel that may make your quest a little easier:

6. The arcade is a place to go for fun.  Go there now to collect your map piece…run!

7. The Enchanted Sanctuary Nursery is the place for dragons of the smallest kind- Look by the waterfall for the map piece so you don’t fall behind!

8. Free Fall Mountain requires skydiving gear, but look ‘round before you launch…the map piece is near!

Be on the lookout for a new clue each day!  If you’re having trouble finding pieces of the map, talk to your friends to see what they’ve found. Or, post a comment here and see if a fellow Jumpee might be able to help!

Helpful hint: If you’re sure that your child is in the correct location and still cannot locate the map piece, clear out your web browser’s cache.  This will solve the problem of the missing map piece!

How do I add buddies?

There are two ways to add buddies:

1. Use your buddy code: Every player has a unique buddy code. To find out what yours is, go to:

• Your child’s launch page or
• JumpStart.com, “Manage Account” > “Buddy List”

Once you’re there, you can print out cards with your child’s buddy code and share them with friends and family, so they can enter the code directly on their buddy list!

2. You can also simply add buddies by clicking on another player to access his or her game card.

Click on the icon in the top right corner of the player card to add a new buddy

Then click on the red “Add Buddy” icon to invite the player to be a buddy! The player will then receive a message that looks like this:

Decide how to respond to a friend request!

If the player accepts the invitation, each player will appear on the other’s buddy list. If the recipient ignores the request, the sender will be notified that this Jumpee is not currently adding buddies. If the player selects no, the request will be denied.

So what do I do with my buddy list?

When your kids are playing DownTown and on Mainstreet, they can click on the buddy list icon to see which of their friends are online. Then they can click on “visit” or “invite” to meet up with them and explore the JumpStart world together!

How do I manage my buddy list?

Jumpeez can head over to the Buddiez Booth on MainStreet or in The Neighborhood to see their online, offline, and ignored buddies. Here they can remove buddies or accept ignored buddies by removing them from the “Ignored” list.

Of course, adding buddies is completely safe and optional!

Having a blast with JumpStart buddiez!

Here are a few ways to have some summertime fun when you’re stuck inside:

Have an indoor picnic: Spread a blanket on the den floor and share your favorite summertime treats like watermelon and lemonade!

Make your own popsicles: All you need is an ice cube tray and toothpicks!  Pour your favorite kind of juice into the ice cube tray.  Cover the tray with cellophane wrap.  Stick a toothpick through the wrap and into each cube.  Place in the freezer overnight.  Voila!  The next morning you’ll have a very yummy treat waiting for you!

Go camping indoors:  Pitch a tent in the living room (use a blanket held up with a line of string if you don’t have one) and let the kids pretend that they’re on a camping trip.  Pull out the sleeping bags and even tell a few ghost stories!

Build a fort: Take apart the sofa and use cushions, blankets and pillows to assemble a secret fort that will rival any tree house!

As you all know, summer is a time for fun, games and family travel! However, when traveling, there’s always the risk of encountering boredom. Whether you’re driving to a campground or off to Grandma’s house, sometimes the long roads seem even longer when you have nothing to pass the time. Here at JumpStart, we’d like to make road trips a time for family fun so we’ve come up with a few solutions that might help! Next time your kids start to get restless in the car…

Sweet and Sour. A true classic. When you’re on the road, wave to kids in other cars. If they wave back, they’re sweet! If they don’t, then they’re sour. Try to get as many sweets as possible!

Jello. Another car game classic! When you’re packed in the backseat like sardines, what better way to make the best out of the situation than to play a game of Jello? As the driver turns, pretend that you’re made out of Jello and move when the car moves – for once, the person in the middle will be glad to be in the middle!

The Stuck in Traffic Song. When you’re stuck in traffic, take turns singing along to the radio while substituting your own words in place of the real words. Make your lyrics about the traffic – it’s a great way to get a laugh out of sitting in a jam and it’s a sure way to make the delay seem shorter!

Popcorn Storytelling. Have one person start a story with a sentence, then go around the car and have everybody add on a sentence. Agree on a set amount of times you’ll go around before ending the story. Then enjoy the twists and turns as the story unfolds!
