Getting Started: Before you can begin the quest for a Pegasus, you must make sure of a couple things…

Finding a Pegasus Egg: The first step to getting a Pegasus is finding an egg! Be sure to search high and low, because your egg could be hidden anywhere in the Enchanted Sanctuary!

The Eggulator: Now that you’ve found an egg, you need to hatch it! Take your egg to the Eggulator and choose if you want your mythie to be a Pegasus or a dragon. Once your Jumpee is in the Eggulator, choose your Pegasus preferences. You can paint the egg the colors you want your Pegasus to be and choose the gender you’d prefer. Now just sit back and wait, because Pegasus eggs take a long time to hatch. Give your egg about 24 hours to fully grow then come back and hatch your own baby Pegasus!

Color Kits: If you want to change your mythie’s colors, then go to the dress up kiosk in the Enchanted Sanctuary and buy color kits to paint your mythie any color you want! Be careful though… You can buy color kits each type of mythie. Only the right type of kit will paint your Pegasus so pay attention to which kind you’re buying!

Mythie Training: Once your Pegasus is a teen and begins training, there are a few tasks you can accomplish. First, go to flight school and follow Ivy’s instructions to teach your Pegasus how to fly! Also, go into ice training and train your Pegasus to shoot ice from its horn!

Release your Mythie: Once your mythie is a fully trained adult and you want a new one, you go to the Mythie Release area and release your mythie to flight school. Then you can begin raising a new one, but if you ever miss a released mythie, just go to the flight deck and call it back! You can then fly around together and see how your old mythie is doing!

For those of you who haven’t found the first five pieces yet, S.P.L.A.T. has recently received the following intel that may make your quest a little easier:

1. Head for the music inside DownTown’s gates. Then take a dirt path to where the next clue awaits!
2. A mine full of treasure is the place you want to go. Jump in a cart to find what you want to know!
3. Search JumpStart’s fastest land to solve the next clue! When you look up at the cliffs, the map piece will be in view!
4. Near each Jumpee’s home lies a garden of flowers. If you don’t go there, Sorcerer Tangorra may just steal your power!
5. There’s only one spot where spooks can be guests.  Check the haunted porch to discover the rest!

Be on the lookout for a new clue each day!  If you’re having trouble finding pieces of the map, talk to your friends to see what they’ve found. Or, post a comment here and see if a fellow Jumpee might be able to help!

Helpful hint: If you’re sure that your child is in the correct location and still cannot locate the map piece, clear out your web browser’s cache.  This will solve the problem of the missing map piece!

And at JumpStart, the dress-up fun never ends! New clothes are arriving all the time! Fresh summer looks arrived today, so encourage your kids to play JumpStart so they can get some fun new clothes!

How do I add buddies?

There are two ways to add buddies:

1. Use your buddy code: Every player has a unique buddy code. To find out what yours is, go to:

• Your child’s launch page or
• JumpStart.com, “Manage Account” > “Buddy List”

Once you’re there, you can print out cards with your child’s buddy code and share them with friends and family, so they can enter the code directly on their buddy list!

2. You can also simply add buddies by clicking on another player to access his or her game card.

Click on the icon in the top right corner of the player card to add a new buddy

Then click on the red “Add Buddy” icon to invite the player to be a buddy! The player will then receive a message that looks like this:

If the player accepts the invitation, each player will appear on the other’s buddy list. If the recipient ignores the request, the sender will be notified that this Jumpee is not currently adding buddies. If the player selects no, the request will be denied.

So what do I do with my buddy list?

When your kids are playing DownTown and on Mainstreet, they can click on the buddy list icon to see which of their friends are online. Then they can click on “visit” or “invite” to meet up with them and explore the JumpStart world together!

How do I manage my buddy list?

Jumpeez can head over to the Buddiez Booth on MainStreet or in The Neighborhood to see their online, offline, and ignored buddies. Here they can remove buddies or accept ignored buddies by removing them from the “Ignored” list.

Of course, adding buddies is completely safe and optional!

Here are a few ways to have some summertime fun when you’re stuck inside:

Have an indoor picnic: Spread a blanket on the den floor and share your favorite summertime treats like watermelon and lemonade!

Make your own popsicles: All you need is an ice cube tray and toothpicks!  Pour your favorite kind of juice into the ice cube tray.  Cover the tray with cellophane wrap.  Stick a toothpick through the wrap and into each cube.  Place in the freezer overnight.  Voila!  The next morning you’ll have a very yummy treat waiting for you!

Go camping indoors:  Pitch a tent in the living room (use a blanket held up with a line of string if you don’t have one) and let the kids pretend that they’re on a camping trip.  Pull out the sleeping bags and even tell a few ghost stories!

Build a fort: Take apart the sofa and use cushions, blankets and pillows to assemble a secret fort that will rival any tree house!

As you all know, summer is a time for fun, games and family travel! However, when traveling, there’s always the risk of encountering boredom. Whether you’re driving to a campground or off to Grandma’s house, sometimes the long roads seem even longer when you have nothing to pass the time. Here at JumpStart, we’d like to make road trips a time for family fun so we’ve come up with a few solutions that might help! Next time your kids start to get restless in the car…

Sweet and Sour. A true classic. When you’re on the road, wave to kids in other cars. If they wave back, they’re sweet! If they don’t, then they’re sour. Try to get as many sweets as possible!

Jello. Another car game classic! When you’re packed in the backseat like sardines, what better way to make the best out of the situation than to play a game of Jello? As the driver turns, pretend that you’re made out of Jello and move when the car moves – for once, the person in the middle will be glad to be in the middle!

The Stuck in Traffic Song. When you’re stuck in traffic, take turns singing along to the radio while substituting your own words in place of the real words. Make your lyrics about the traffic – it’s a great way to get a laugh out of sitting in a jam and it’s a sure way to make the delay seem shorter!

Popcorn Storytelling. Have one person start a story with a sentence, then go around the car and have everybody add on a sentence. Agree on a set amount of times you’ll go around before ending the story. Then enjoy the twists and turns as the story unfolds!

Forget what Miss Manners once said and start encouraging your kids to talk while they eat (after they swallow, of course)!  Dinnertime is the perfect time to hear about their day, their opinions, and what’s going on in their little heads.  Get past the one word answers and make your kids give you a mouthful of conversation.  While getting to know your kids on a deeper level, you’ll also be giving them practice at thinking quickly, forming arguments and opinions, and expressing their thoughts.

Simple conversation starters will get the ball rolling and before you know it, your kids will be bringing a lot more to the table than hungry bellies.  Try some of these conversation starters or make up your own:

• What was the __________ (choose one: funniest . . . most surprising . . . most predictable . . . dullest) thing that happened to you today?
• If you were writing a newspaper article about your day, what would be the headline?
• Teach us one thing that you learned today that you think we don’t know yet.
• If you had one hour alone with the President of the U.S., what would you want to discuss or talk about?
• Which cartoon character would you most like to have as a next door neighbor?  Why?
• If you won the lottery (or won $100) what is the first thing you would buy?
• Imagine you had an identical twin; name three things that would be really great about having an identical twin and three things that would be “not so great.”
• Which fairy tale character would you most like to take a vacation with?  Why?
• If you were a plant and could be planted anywhere in the world, what kind of plant would you be?  Where would you like to be planted and grow?
• If you could go on a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
• If the sky suddenly started to rain candy, what candy would you want it to rain?
• If you were to take a time machine 50 years into the future, what do you think life will be like?  What will you do with your free time?  How do you think people will communicate or prepare food?
• What kind of car would you say you are most like?  If you could be any car, which one would you choose?
• If you could invite any famous person to your birthday party, who would it be?  Why?
• If you could create a national chain of restaurants designed for kids, what would you call it?  What kinds of food would you serve?  What would the theme of the restaurant be?
• If you had to choose one modern convenience, appliance, or technology that you just couldn’t live without, what would it be?
• What was the best birthday party you remember having?  Tell what you remember about it.
• Where will you be, and what do you think you will be doing in 10 -15 years?
• If you had a choice, would you rather live in the city or the country?  Why?
• If you could be a TV producer, what would be the name of your new show?  Who would you get to star in it?  What would your show be about?
• In the movie about your life, what actor would play you? Your best friend? Your family members?

Another way to get the table talk going is to play a little game.  President Obama plays a game with his family called “Roses and Thorns.”  Everyone takes a turn describing a good thing that happened that day (rose) and a low moment or tough problem they had to deal with (thorn) during the day.  Whatever the approach, set your dinner table with conversation to strengthen relationships and make memories to last a lifetime.

Last week, the office was caught in a festive tornado of creativity as lamps were given to everyone, along with a randomly drawn name. Each member of the JumpStart Team was asked to design a lamp for the co-worker whose name they drew. Everyone drew upon their artistic talents or hid the lack-there-of behind loads of stickers and paint to create a masterpiece. From incredibly creative to just plain strange, all of the lamps were like nothing you could ever find in a store.
