New Concert Venue Arrives at JumpStart

Tucked behind the Brain Training Arcade in DownTown JumpStart, you will find a brand new building – the JumpStart Amphitheater! It’s the destination for Jumpeez who would like to enjoy a toe-tapping performance from one of JumpStart’s talented performers or groups.

Want to check out the new venue? Look for the gate just to the left of the Brain Training Arcade. When you see the giant spotlights, you’ll know you’ve arrived.

Keep an eye on the clocks outside to find out when the next performance is scheduled to begin. Then, head on in and grab a seat in the front row.

Or bound up to the stands for a view of the whole scene.

The JumpStart Amphitheater is the perfect spot to make friends with some fellow music-loving Jumpeez, so be sure to say hello and show off your dance moves while you are there!

This exciting new venue is here to stay, so tell us, what performances would you like to see? Perhaps Kisha singing one of our favorite JumpStart tunes, Echolocation? Or maybe a bit of classical music? Comment below to let us know!

In the neighborhood section of JumpStart.com these days, Jumpeez can design a house, select buddies to be their neighbors, choose an awesome Fun Zone and invite pals over to party! But even with all that excitement, there is one thing that seems to be missing…the ability to decorate the inside of a house! Based on your feedback, we’ve decided to open the doors and let Jumpeez fully decorate the interiors of their houses. We are thrilled to announce that in just a few weeks, the Rooms Store will open for business, offering all sorts of stylish, unique and fun indoor decorations!

An Ancient World Theme

The Rooms Store, expected to be a sub-section of the House Hut in DownTown, will have a huge selection of items including seating, beds, lightings, gadgets, decors, floors, wallpapers and more. After all, designing the perfect room is a great way for kids to express their individuality!

Mix-Matched Decoration

From Egyptian-style wallpaper to a daisy-inpired coffee table to a 4 poster princess bed, the Rooms store will surely have something perfect for even the pickiest of Jumpeez. And you can be sure that we will add more choices as time continues! In fact, rumor has it that outer space and rock star themes may be available in the future!

Hmmm... choices, choices, choices.

Once Jumpeez have designed the perfect home, they will be able to invite their buddies inside to visit. So tell your kids to get those creative juices flowing – personalized rooms will be available soon!

Here at JumpStart, we like to stay in style. Along with all the newly-added Valentine’s Day decorations, we’ve added a bunch of new fashions to the Threadz shop, so you can stay in style too! We asked a few Jumpeez to model some of the new clothes for you, so why don’t we sneak a peek at some new looks en vogue for Valentine’s Day!

Up first on our runway we have Michelle Snarkysnorf, modeling a blouse great for all the pink-loving, heart-wearing, pigtail-sporting girls out there!Next we have Isabella Strongraven. Look cute and comfortable in this striped pink shirt if you’re feeling like going a little more casual for Valentine’s Day!Our next blouse is being modeled by Vanessa Irongoat. With the perfect blend between peach and pink, this top looks good on any Jumpee skin tone!Zoe Starcheetah claims that this Goldilocks-inspired outfit sure makes you feel pretty in pink!Aaliyah Pinkmist proves that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean just pink! Happy New Year from the JumpStart Team!

It is amazing to think that just one short year ago, our online game was a single-player world with only one major portal – StoryLand. Now, from the moment you enter JumpStart.com, you are surrounded by dancing Jumpeez, swerving rides, bouncing pets, and grinning emoticons. Plus, with the addition of the FutureLand, AdventureLand, MarineLand, SpeedDrome, DownTown, and Neighborhood portals, MainStreet is just the beginning of the fun.

We hope that you’ve enjoyed watching our world grow and change as much as we have this year. Please keep the feedback and suggestions coming; after all, our imaginations are the only limit as to what our game could be like next December!

Thank you for joining us in our online world in 2009, and we look forward to seeing you there in 2010 and beyond! Happy New Year!

Today, amidst the usual office junk mail, we found quite the gem – a hand drawn note from a budding artist named Bella.

The producers gave the note a read and decided that Bella has some great ideas for JumpStart.com, which you just might see come to life soon! Take a look:

Spelling at JumpStart? We’re Listening!

Hello JumpStart fans!

From Petz to Ridez to Buddyz, we’ve been adding all sorts of exciting new features to our online world recently – most of which sport a trendy “z” at the end of their names. Over the past week, a few of you reached out to us to say that, trendy or not, this naming convention might make learning to spell difficult for kids. And, based on your feedback we’ve decided to make a change!

In the upcoming weeks, we will be swapping out some of our wacky “z” spellings for the proper spellings for words such as “pets”, “rides” and “buddies”. We have, however, decided to maintain the “z”s on the store buildings inside the game (Petz Store, for example), because we feel this provides an additional learning opportunity for your kids. As our Curriculum Writer, Heather Tuttle MED, explains, “In a world of spell check, texting, emailing, instant messaging, and businesses using alternative poetic spellings – Flickr, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Rite Aid, etc – teaching kids how to speak and spell properly has become a tricky task. The key is exposure and observation of both formal and informal grammar and spelling. When kids can compare the two and distinguish between them, they are truly learning.”

In the online world at JumpStart.com, the combination of real words, nonsense words and words with manipulated spellings mirrors the types of words your child will be exposed to in the real world. Lori Berget, Executive Producer, adds, “Unlike most sites online, JumpStart.com provides dozens of valuable learning games that focus on the formalities of language and grammar to help children more easily distinguish between proper and stylized grammar.”
