There is a billboard in front of the movie theatre on Main and one in front of the Hall of Fame! Have your child take a photo of anything they find interesting and put it on the billboard for them to see whenever they enter JumpStart!

Storyland

A lot of the various lands within JumpStart also have billboards that you can personalize! Storyland has the most with a few in each of the subsections. In Storyland, children have the option to color a picture or use one from their camera for decorating their billboard! There are a bunch of different tools in the art studio for coloring a picture from adding texture or adding text. Anything your child does will make his or her billboard fantastic! Check this one out!

Adventureland and Marineland

Adventureland and Marineland both have billboards as well! You can even take a photo, and decorate a frame for it and then display its beauty on the billboard. Check out the picture we took of Frankie in Adventureland!

We bet your children might find it cool to take some underwater pictures in Marineland too, so head on to Merllywood to place them on the billboard-walk of fame! Have fun finding and decorating all the billboards to really personalize your world!

Hi Gang,

There has been quite the demand to have a closer look at the ever-elusive Water Punk-Punk, Abrachius optigigantus.  Our team of JumpStart biologists has managed to capture images of these creatures in their natural habitat.  These incredible pictures have allowed us to create detailed illustrations for further study.

Hi Gang,

This week, I want to show you the newly completed box for our upcoming Wii title: JumpStart Pet Rescue. Please note that the actual art and messaging is still pending approval from Nintendo of America. (Sorry, our legal department is making me put this in).

Anyway, the art department, along with marketing, has produced a pretty cool box. I want to give a big SHOUT-OUT to Lance, Megumi, Seth, and Jen for all the art and Carlos for the messaging and layout.

I have included most of the steps that we took to complete the box art.

We begin by creating thumbnail sketches of the different ideas that we have for the box.

Then, we sketch out a rough layout for the background and continue to add detail.

Here is the color. YAY! Megumi painted most of the characters, while Lance painted the background.

Note that we painted a larger picture than what is on the final box.  Check out Frankie’s ears.  This is extra bleed area for when the image is cut to fit the plastic case.

Whew! The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is finally over. It has been a busy last couple of weeks and I’m excited to show all of our loyal JumpStart fans some new screen shots of our upcoming world – MarineLand! Can’t wait, huh?

You have seen the concept art*… NOW experience the final super-cool 3D worlds. (Well, not exactly final; but pretty close anyway.)

Hi Gang,

I was digging through our JumpStart vault, fighting dust bunnies at every turn, when I found some great concept art from a long time ago.  Well, about five years, to be exact, which means ancient history in video game years and 33 in dog years.  Back then, real-time 3D games were primitive so we created most of our screens as 2D illustrative backgrounds.

You can see the difference when we have to build a real-time model.  The 3D version may not be as smooth or detailed as the illustration, but you can literally “jump all over it.”  I would always prefer to have a 3D world that I could fully explore than just a pretty picture to look at. (Sorry, climbing off my soapbox now.)

Anyway, concept art is always cool to look at, and I will be posting some additional sketches during the week.
